Covington

Matt Slimming, PT, DPT

Matt completed his Bachelors in Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia in 1993. He returned to school in 2014 and completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in August 2015.

Matt has had extensive training and specializes in treating the spine, lower extremity and vestibular rehabilitation. He is certified in the Fishbain DOT-RFC Functional Capacity Battery, Golf Fitness, and Essentials of Musculoskeletal Imaging. He completed Barefoot Running, Surgical conditions for the athlete, Tennis Rehab, Running Rehab, BEST Exercise Program for Osteoporosis Prevention, Rehabilitation for the Post surgical Orthopedic Patient, Modules 1 and 2, Physical Therapies in Sport and Exercise, Modules 1, 2 and 3, Muscle Energy Techniques, Evaluation Manual Correction and Treatment of the Sacroiliac Joint, and Direct Access Medical Screening.

Jeff Reeves, PT

Jeff served in the United States Marine Corps from 1998-2002. He attended Misericordia University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and with his Masters of Physical Therapy in 2009. Jeff’s treatment focus is Sports Injuries, Outpatient Orthopedics, Trigger Point Release, Integrated Dry Needling, Concussion Evaluation, Headaches and ALINE Orthotics. He has been practicing Physical Therapy for over 7 years.

Miguel A. Larrea, PT, DPT, SFMA

Miguel attended Southeastern Louisiana University and graduated with a B.S.
in Exercise Science. He then went on to complete his Doctoral of Physical
Therapy at the University of St. Augustine for Health Studies in St.
Augustine, FL. Dr. Larrea has previous experience as a strength and
conditioning coach, and spend 12 years in the Army Reserves as an Air
Assault Combat Medic. With additional experiences in neuro/inpatient
settings, Dr. Larrea specializes in sports, orthopedics, and manual rehab.
His goal is to get you to move better to feel better and get you strong to
stay strong.

Angelle Ream, PT, MPT

Angelle is a native of Mandeville, Louisiana and a graduate of Fontainebleau High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University in 2002. She received her Masters of Physical Therapy degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2004. Angelle joined the Star team in 2011. She is certified in LSVT Big to treat movement disorders associated with Parkinson’s Disease.

Emily Lafleur, DPT

Emily Lafleur is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and received her doctoral degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2014, and then returned to the Gulf Coast to practice. Emily’s clinical interests include Orthopedics, Kinesio taping, and Manual therapy. She would like to participate in further study of in depth manual therapy techniques and to become certified in Dry Needling.

Emily grew up in Mobile, AL and recently moved to Madisonville, LA. Her interests include baking, travel, riding horses and competing in Hunter/Jumper horse shows.

 

Mike Parr, PTA

Mike received his undergraduate degree and Masters degree in Human Performance and Health Promotion with a minor in Exercise Physiology from University of New Orleans in 2002. He then went to Daytona State University to become a Physical Therapy Assistant in 2009. He loves taking care of patients, and helping them feel better.

Carol Becnel, PTA

Carol is one of our Physical Therapy Assistants in Covington. She loves helping our patients! Most patients remember her from her infectious laugh.

Caitlyn Matherne, LMT

Caitlyn is a native of Ponchatoula, and graduated from Delta College in Massage Therapy in 2014. She is a licensed Massage Therapist and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. While Caitlyn does offer massages for relaxation and stress relief, she is a Certified Medical Massage Therapist specializing in treating patients with specific medical diagnosis. She is also proficient in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release and Low Back Pain Management.

Mandeville

Maria Senette, DPT

Maria graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2003. She then went to University of St. Augustine to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2006. She specializes in Manual Therapy, Dry Needling and other Physical Therapy modalities.

Folsom

Jerome Wollfarth, DPT

Jerome went to UNO and earned a BS in Biology then attended LSU Health Science Center for Physical Therapy. Before becoming a physical therapist he worked in a busy outpatient clinic as a physical therapy technician for 2 years. Jerome has been a practicing physical therapist since 2003 and has worked at STAR Physical Therapy since 2006 where he serves as clinical director of our Folsom clinic. He has a wide range of experiences in many settings, but he has spent most of his career in outpatient physical therapy.

Ashley Khashou, PTA

Ashley Khashou has been treating patients as a licensed PTA for over 18 years. During that time, she has worked with patients in not only out patient, but various other settings including acute care, skilled nursing facilities, rehab units, long term acute, and home health. Her approach to physical therapy treatment focuses on building a caring relationship with each patient while helping them reach their rehabilitation goals. In addition to her Physical Therapist Assistant, Associate of Applied Science degree, Ashley also earned a bachelor of General Studies degree with a concentration in Health Care Management/ Marketing from UNO.

Ashley Garnett, DPT

Ashley received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University in 2008 and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from LSU Health Sciences Center in 2011. She worked for 4 years in Acute care and is now happy to be a new member of the STAR Team. She enjoys spending time getting to know her patients and helping them get well.

Ravi Bates, PT

Ravi Bates, owner/partner, holds 12 years experience in the field of physical therapy. His commitment to local community and passion for the growth and success of New Orleans has helped him better serve his patients over the years. Mr. Bates specializes in the treatment of orthopedic musculoskeletal conditions, spine and extremities. His “hands on approach” enables him to assess and implement the correct plan of care which is patient tailored to meet the best possible outcomes. As a graduate from Tulane University with a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences he has worked with many athletes both collegiate and professional. He finished his post-graduate studies in physical therapy to receive a Masters from the University of Alabama Birmingham, a “top ten best” physical therapy program at the time. Ravi Bates has had the opportunity to work and learn from the best scholars in the industry. Mr. Bates has completed continuing education coursework and certifications to learn a variety of techniques that help assist his patients including vestibular rehab, athletic taping, orthopedic manipulation, and most recently dry needling. Ravi Bates is married with three wonderful children and he enjoys golf and jogging in his free time.

Slidell

Liz Davis, DPT

Liz Davis is diligent in the importance of continuing education and committed to the profession of physical therapy. Prior to joining the STAR team, she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of South Alabama where there was an emphasis on rehabilitation for orthopedic and neurological injuries.

Liz was born in Charleston, IL and eventually traveled to the south earning her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Louisiana State University. She now resides in Covington, LA.

Marketing Team

 Samantha “Sam” Delahoussaye

Sam graduated from Louisiana State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. She was born and raised in Madisonville, Louisiana where she learned the importance of family, faith, and lifelong relationships. While she was at LSU she was a member of the volleyball team for the four years she attended. She is sports-minded as well as business focused and enjoys building relationships with other health practices.

Jennifer Barrone-Moffett

Jennifer completed her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) in Behavioral Sciences, with a minor in Human Resources in 1989.

Since then, she has worked as a Retail Manager, District Trainer, High School Teacher and Entrepreneur. She began her career in health care as a Medical Marketer in 2011. She quickly fell in love with the job, because of her love for helping people. Since that time, Jennifer has worked as Marketing Director, Community Liaison in the areas of Home Health, Hospice, and In-patient Rehab.

She lives in New Orleans with her husband and children. Jennifer enjoys meeting new people, working in ministry, cooking, traveling,  shopping and hanging out with the family.
